                      SARINE MARIE

Sarine Marie is an up and coming designer for an up and coming high-end women's contemporary line called Sarine Marie. They are based in the heart of Los Angeles, Hollywood, where they design and manufacture in house merchandise . With over 35 years of experience in the industry, her father has a background in men's tailoring along with costume construction and stage costuming. He has worked with many celebrities from Lionel Richie to Neil Diamond, doing their stage costuming for concerts and tours. He is also the legendary creator of Michael Jackson's glove! My mother has experience with being a contractor for high-end women's clothing.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, she  have been exposed to an assortment of different styles and personalities which has helped bring out my inner fashionista. Sarine is a fashion school graduate with a strong background in fashion; with a dream of owning my own clothing line. She's  launching her first collection for Fall/Winter 2012-2013. Fashion has been in her blood and it's what she been raised with all her life. It led Sarine to attend Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM)  and she graduated in 2009. Since then she have been researching trends and different consumer habits that led her to create her collection for Fall 2012. Sarine have contributed her father’s expertise in tailoring and construction into her collection. Sarine Marie is defined for using the finest fabrics along with a strong eye for detailing.

3375 After the artistic touches that you added to your everyday life did it then strike you that you wanted to be involved in the world of design and fashion?

SARINE  Fashion has been in my blood and it's what I've been raised with all my life. With over 35 years of experience in the industry, my father has a background in men's tailoring along with costume construction and stage costuming. He has worked with many celebrities from Lionel Richie to Neil Diamond, doing their stage costuming for concerts and tours. He is also the legendary creator of Michael Jackson's glove! I was raised in that atmosphere and knew I would be a part of it one day. My parents were opposed to it. They wanted to guide me into a more stable career. I agreed. I had planned to go to college and major in Business Administration then continue on into Business Law. I did that for a year and it wasn’t for me. It led me to attend Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM)  and I graduated in 2009.

3375  Who is your inspiration?

SARINE  My grandmother. My grandmother has inspired me to get into fashion while my parents have inspired me to start my own business. In Beirut, Lebanon, my grandmother was a very well known seamstress with clients ranging from socialites to royalty. With my grandfather passing away while my father was only 6 years old, my grandmother had to raise 2 young boys all on her own. She’s a great inspiration not only to me but for others.

3375  How do you put your chosen colors together?

SARINE  I want my collection to have a happy and bright vibe without looking tacky. I have a lot of classic and tailored pieces in my collection and I feel that bright yet settle colors makes it more lively and wearable.

3375  When you create something, what goes through your mind?

SARINE  Fit, versatility, and femininity.

3375  You serve a wide range of colors and designs; when a woman is looking for something suitable to wear, how should they choose the outfit most suitable for them?

SARINE  They should choose pieces that best represent their personality and character.
The first thing people notice is color. People who have a vibrant personality tend to go towards the more brighter colors. People who have a more mellow personality tend to go for the more settle colors. After choosing the color, they go for the style. According to your body type, you will pick the styles that best represents your assets.

3375  Does the preparation of a season's collection take time?

SARINE  Yes! It takes months to prepare a collection. You must do your research before starting on sketches, colors, and fabrics. See what’s trending for the following season. Keep an eye out for colors, silhouettes, and fabric textures. From then on create your sketches, pick the colors you want to work with, then find fabrics and prints in the colors you have chosen.

3375  How do you intend women to feel when wearing Sarine Berberian labeled clothing?

SARINE  Stylish, classy, and feminine.

3375  Is there anything you think that will be big this fall?

SARINE  Yes! I believe bright colored coats will be big this fall. The pastel color trend in Spring/Summer will evolve to bright colors in Fall/Winter.

3375  What is the best fashion or styling tip you have ever received?

SARINE  Timeless pieces are a must have in your closet but be sure to pair them up with a current trend. Whether it’s a trendy top or a trendy piece of jewelry. It will freshen up your look.

3375  What is the best fashion or styling tip you could now give?

SARINE  Your outfit must be proportional in order for your body to look proportional. If you’re wearing wide-legged pants/jeans, don’t wear a loose top. It will make you look shorter and wider. Make sure you pair wide-legged pants with a fitted top.

3375  What’s the most challenging event you have ever worked on and why?

SARINE  Getting the fitting and patterns correct. That took a lot of time, especially with the leather pieces. Leather is very difficult to work with and perfect.

3375  How would you describe your creations?

SARINE  "Fall I is described as classy..." , sophisticated, feminine because of the soft silhouettes and delicate fabrics. Fall II is described to be edgier because of our leather pieces and constructed jackets.

3375  What do you have to say to the next generation, particularly for those hoping to follow in your footsteps?

SARINE  Go after what you have a passion for. It’s never too late to do so. Have faith in yourself and believe that things always fall into place. Before getting serious about this industry, work or intern in the fashion field so you can get a better understanding of what you’re getting into.

3375  How can we stay update with you?

SARINEBy visiting my website www.SarineMarie.com. Make sure to check out our Facebook, Twitter, Blog, and Instagram. The links are found at the bottom of our website.
